Diabetes Awareness: Silverline Hospital's Impactful Medical Camp

Silverline Hospital has always kept Community Service as a part of its mission and constantly we look at what service we can provide to the underprivileged and the downtrodden. As a part of this, we participated in a Medical Camp organized by the Kerala Palliative Care unit under the aegis of Dr. Jo Joseph Consultant Cardiologist in Lissie Hospital.

Silverline Hospital provided 3 nurses on 12th Aug sat for Podiatry consultation. Sr. Nimisha, Sr. Celine, and Sr. Reshma did an excellent job by helping the Podiatrist of Lissie Hospital. There were more than 125 patients on Saturday and the nurses worked extensively.

On the 13th Sunday Dr. Subha, Our Family Physician emphasized the Diabetic complications and their management. She spoke eloquently in Malayalam, and the crowd could understand the language she used. She went into all the details of Diabetes, especially those who came for the camp and did their HBA1c the previous day. Almost 90% of the people who attended the camp had an HBA1c of an average of 9 to 10 which was very high. They were ignorant of the condition and the tests, which was a big eye-opener for the people. Alina Balakrishnan on her part did a flowery and humorous extempore which took the crowd to a different level. She explained the usage of Insulin and medications and how the insulin must be maintained at what temperature. Alina took another important class on the food intake and timings of food for a diabetic. She had a clear perspective on the subject she was talking about and did her work professionally.
